The UIL is investigating an on the field altercation involving coaches that took place after Friday’s Hawkins-Cushing football game.

According to Hawkins police, no criminal charges have been filed and officials from both schools have filed incident reports with the UIL.

“After what i know today. and what video we have shows. we are going to be able to completely exonerate our coach,” said Cushing Superintendent Michael Davis.

Due to the ongoing investigation, Hawkins ISD superintendent Morris Lyon said he could disclose many details but said that game officials threw a penalty flag at a Cushing coach because of his behavior.

“Coaches are supposed to deescalate emotions in situations like this and not amplify them,” said Lyon.
