UPDATE: Emergency and non-emergency lines in the affected East Texas counties are functioning normally.

UPDATE: The Lufkin Police Department says that 911 can now be dialed for emergencies. Emergency 911 calls in the Lufkin area are being routed to Cherokee County.

Dispatchers are being sent to Cherokee County to help with the call load.

For non-emergencies, you can try to dial 936-633-0356, however, the non-emergency lines are still unstable.

Non-emergency calls can be made to 936-229-0756 or 936-414-1201.

Due to a major outage, the 911 and non-emergency lines are down in Angelina, Nacogdoches and Shelby Counties.

According information received, it appears that the outage was caused by someone that accidentally cut a Consolidated line.

As of now, it is not likely that this outage is affecting cellphone communications, however, the network is likely more congested and issues with cellular service and speed may arise.

Cellphone numbers have been released that will serve as temporary 911 lines. These are to be used for emergencies only until service is restored to the original lines.

Call 936-229-0756 or 936-212-0950 for EMERGENCIES ONLY.
