UPDATE: A grand jury indicted a Longview man in connection with a wreck that killed another man in October 2017.

Corie Michael Murray, 28, was indicted for intoxication manslaughter in the death of 64-year-old Billie Griffin Andrews on Eastman Road on Oct. 17.

Police say Murray was driving north on Eastman Road when he veered into the southbound lane trying to avoid a collision, but slammed head-on into another car.

Tunyion Lanette Andrews was driving the other car, and Billie was a passenger. Billie died at the hospital and Tunyion was treated for his injuries.

Murray remains in the Gregg County Jail on bonds totaling over $50,000.


Corie Michael Murray, a 27-year-old Longview man, is under arrest after crashing into a vehicle, causing the death of 64-year-old Billie Griffin Andrews of Woodville shortly after 10 p.m. Friday evening of 3800 South Eastman Road.

Officers from the Longview Police Department responded to the report and discovered that Murray was heading North when he drove into the southbound lanes of the road.

Tunyion Lanette Andrews, a 47-year-old Woodville native, was heading South on Eastman with his mother Billie in the passenger seat.

Andrews saw Murray's vehicle traveling north in her lane and veered to the left to avoid a collision.

Murray ended up crashing into the front right hand side of the Andrews' vehicle.

Tunyion and Billie Griffin Andrews were taken to the hospital where Tunyion was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Billie Griffin Andrews died in the hospital.

Murray refused to be treated for his injuries at the scene and police arrested him for intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, intoxication assault with serious bodily injury in a vehicle and possession of marijuana.
