Keeping patients healthy is their job, but more importantly keeping employees healthy is the key to a new walking trail that officially opened today at UT Health Northeast.
President, Doctor Kirk Calhoun, dedicated the quarter-mile employee walking trail with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by an inaugural walk by several hundred employees.
Project coordinator, Blake Curtis, says the employees requested the trail as part of the campus beautification efforts.
"It's part of maintaining their health, we're really trying to push the health employee initiative and get some employees that are really excited about it, they donated these funds and are excited to provide the trail for them" Curtis said.
The walking trail is located on the North side of the main campus, and plans are to expand the trail in the near future.
