The University of Texas at Tyler Police Department is hosting Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training, an active shooter course for area law enforcement agencies.
The training will be held from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the UT Tyler Innovation Academy, 3402 Old Omen Rd.
Modular buildings 1, 2 and the ingenuity center building will be utilized for the training. The buildings on the campus will be off-limits to the public during the training. The public is asked to stay away from the campus during the training.
ALERRT is realistic active shooter training for law enforcement officers. Portions of the training will involve officers utilizing firearms with blank ammunition. They will be fired inside the buildings, but they may be heard in the area near the innovation academy.
