A 17-year-old is in the Hopkins County jail charged with murder after police say he shot and killed another teen Sunday night.

According to Hopkins County Sheriff Lewis Tatum, Galvin Gilbert, 17, and 18-year-old Tyrese Pryor met on on County Road 1185 near the South Liberty Community late Sunday evening. An altercation happened shortly after they met, and Gilbert fired four shots at Pryor's truck.

Pryor was hit by two gunshots, and died from his injuries.

Several other people were in the same truck but were not injured.

Gilbert was arrested and is in the Hopkins County Jail on a $2 million bond for murder and $500,000 bond for each of the four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Pryor was a senior at Sulphur Springs High School, and had played on the football team in the past.
