The Smith County Sheriff's office is asking for help locating the person(s) responsible for a car burglary where a prosthetic leg and other items were stolen.
The theft happened around 3 p.m. on Nov. 18 in the 10,100 block of County Road 228 in Smith County. According to the police report, the victim drove to an area on his property and put on his 'rough terrain' prosthetic leg to survey the area.
The victim later returned to his truck and saw his toolbox, a 'come-a-long' toool and a T-post diver were gone. He then looked into the cab and noticed his 'normal, everyday prosthetic leg' was also gone.
It is a left leg with a hydraulic ankle and a blue coupling with white letters showing 'JT LIONS' on it. It is a size 13 foot and had no shoe on at the time it was stolen.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Detective J.R. McDowell at 903-590-2687 or JMcDowell@smith-county.com.
