The shooting happened Dec. 1 around 9 p.m. as two men were opening a gate in the 18700 block of County Road 455 near Lindale to visit the homeowner.
The men were able to get in the property and contact the Smith County Sheriff's Office, then, along with the homeowner, located the alleged shooter near a barn on the property.
The men subdued the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Benjamin Adkins, until authorities arrived.
Adkins was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in the Smith County Jail on bonds totaling $225,000.
