Tyler Fire investigators have determined the source of the fire that damaged a Golden Corral restaurant overnight.
Crews were called out around 11 p.m. to the Golden Corral restaurant located on South Broadway Avenue, and were able to get the fire under control about 1 a.m.
Investigators found that the fire started near the southwest corner of the building in the exterior eve. The ignition source was the can lights and investigators found the breaker controlling the lights had been tripped.
Investigators were told an electrician had been at the restaurant recently working on the the lights.
Damage to the building is mostly outside with smoke and fire damage to the interior. The building also sustained water damage inside due to activated water sprinklers and fire suppression material.
No injuries were reported and a spokesperson at the restaurant said they plan to reopen by the weekend.
