UPDATE: A man who fought with police during an investigation in November 2017 has been indicted by a grand jury on several charges, according to press release issued Monday afternoon.

Jason Jones, 37, was indicted on one count of assault against a peace officer, one count of attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer, one count evading arrest or detention with previous conviction and one charge of possession of a controlled substance.

He remains in the Gregg County jail on bonds totaling over $80,000.


One person is in jail on several charges after fighting police during an investigation on Nov. 24 in Longview.

According to Longview police, 37-year-old Jason Lee Jones was stopped on a criminal trespass call around 7:15 p.m. on Nov. 24. An officer tried to arrest Jones, but Jones fled on foot.

The officer caught up with Jones and they fought. Jones tried to take the officer's taser, breaking the holster from the belt. Jones broke away and again fled on foot. The second time the officer caught up to Jones, Jones allegedly punched the officer in the head twice.

The officer was able to arrest Jones, and found drug paraphernalia on Jones during a search.

Both men were treated and released at local hospital for treatment of injuries during the altercations.

Jones was booked on multiple charges including assault on a peace officer, evading on foot, and resisting arrest, search or transport.
