UPDATE: According the family's crowdfunding page on YouCaring.com, another member of the family involved in the fire died on Tuesday.


One person was killed and one hospitalized after a mobile home caught fire early Thursday morning in Diana.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Justin Hankins, crews from Diana, Glenwood and East Mountain Volunteer Fire Departments along with the Gilmer Fire Department were called out to a structure fire on Highway 154 in Diana around 5 a.m.

One person was killed and another flown to a hospital for treatment; however, authorities have not released their names or gender.

According to a next door neighbor, three people were home at the time of the fire; a husband and wife and their grandson.

The state fire marshal and Upshur County Sheriff's department is still on scene and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
