Police are still looking for the person who stole a Salvation Army red kettle and stand from a Tyler Walmart on Dec. 16.

It happened while volunteers were ringing the bell at Walmart on Highway 64 East.

No injuries were reported, and it is unknown how much money was in the kettle at the time of the theft.

“It is definitely a little discouraging to have something like this happen on our final stretch of kettles, especially when we are short of our goal,” said Captain Robert Parker, Tyler Corps. “However, we won’t let one person’s actions keep us from working hard to meet the needs of the people we serve in our community. I’m hoping that the people of Smith County and Tyler will rally behind us and turn what one person meant for evil into something even better!”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-521-1000 or Crime Stoppers at 903-597-2833.
