A woman is dead after a truck crashed into a stopped train Saturday July 15, 2017 in Longview.
According to a Facebook post by Longview Police Sunday just after 9 a.m., 77-year-old Nelda Holland Cooper of Troupe was identified as deceased.
The pickup was traveling west on I-20 at 11:43 p.m. when it left the roadway just east of mile marker 595.
The black Chevrolet Silverado caught fire and police describe the pickup as severely damaged.
Emergency crews shut down that area of the interstate while they responded to the incident and worked to contain the fire.
Investigators identified a partial VIN number which helped in the identification of both the vehicle and the woman.
All lanes of traffic opened back up after 9 a.m. Sunday morning, according to tweets from Longview Police.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
