TYLER - The last 7 months have had some ups and downs for the UT Tyler tennis team. Their head coach, Chris Bizot, resigned in January, just before the season began. Joe Vann took over as the interim coach and led the Patriots through the 2017 Spring season.
Now, UT Tyler has picked a permanent replacement as Adam Cohen was named as the Patriots new men's and women's tennis coach.
Cohen comes to Tyler after spending 11 years at Mesa Community College in Arizona. He led the Thunderbirds to 9 conference titles in his time there and while moving up to Division 3 will be a challenge, he sees big things ahead for the Patriots.
Cohen says, "What already has been done here is unreal, the results speak for themselves. I think were going to be able to grab one of those NCAA National Championship trophies."
The Patriots will open up the 2017 Fall season on September 10, when they host the Tyler Invitational.
