TYLER - All of the East Texas girls high school basketball teams opened up play last week, but the boys had to wait another week to get on the court.

On Tuesday, all of our 6A boys teams kicked off the 2017-2018 season.

John Tyler opened up the season at home as they took on Lufkin. The Panthers took an early lead and never looked back. And Lufkin opens the year with a win, beating JT 67-55.

As for the other 2 boys 6A teams, it was a rough night for both of them. Lee opened the year on the road at Forney and the Red Raiders lost 60-57. And Longview kicked off the year at home, but it was a tough start as they fell to Hallsville 59-53.
