TYLER - Lee quarterback Chance Amie has been one of the top QB recruits in East Texas this year. At 6'4" and with a strong arm, it's understandable why colleges are interested in him.
His final 3 choices were reportedly Houston, Syracuse, and North Carolina.
And on Monday evening, Amie made his decision, choosing the University of Houston.

Amie had offers from 20 schools around the country, but he decided to stay close to home and continue the Tyler-to-Houston pipeline.
And this sets up a potentially interesting quarterback competition down the line. Amie will join the Cougars in the fall of 2018. One of the quarterbacks ahead of him (in terms of age) will be former John Tyler star Bryson Smith. So two former TISD stars could be in competition for the starting job for the Cougars.
But until then, Amie will focus on his final year in Tyler and will try to get the Red Raiders back to the playoffs.
