LONGVIEW - Cassi Rozanski has already been part of 2 basketball teams in the American Southwest Conference.
This year, she'll add another ASC school to her list.
Rozanski has been named the new women's basketball coach at LeTourneau. She takes over the program from Leslie Reinecker, who left shortly after last season ended.
Rozanski will be a familiar name to ASC basketball fans. She played collegiatly at UT Dallas and then spent her first 7 years in coaching as an assistant at UT Tyler. After spending the last few years in a variety of jobs, Rozanski now gets her first chance to be an NCAA head coach as she takes over the Yellowjacket program.
She says the fact that she already knows a couple of the ASC teams will help her make this transition. Rozanski says, "I know what it takes to win and be successful and I think that's a huge advantage that not all first time head coaches get, but I've been blessed with that opportunity."
At LeTourneau, Rozanski will be reunited with Terri Deike. For the first 2 years of her coaching career, Rozanski was an assistant coach under Deike at UT Tyler. Now Deike is the Athletic Director at LETU and excited to work with her former assistant once again.
Deike says, "I think it's going to be interesting to see that LeTourneau will start getting some of those student-athletes that we may not have gotten in the past from Texas just because of [Rozanski] and people knowing her from coaching at UT Tyler."
While Rozanski is looking forward to being a head coach, this year will be a challenge as the Yellowjackets lost most of their roster to graduation, including their top 8 scorers from last year.
