LONGVIEW - Longview High School introduced two new head coaches on Tuesday. Don Newton will take over the boys basketball team, while Jim Goldman will be the new baseball coach.
Newton comes to Longview, after a seven year stint at Corsicana. He has a total of 21 years of coaching experience, and he says, “I’m just excited because it’s a great opportunity to come and work, and a good culture.”
Goldman comes to Longview after two seasons at Pollok Central. Before that, he spent seven seasons as the head coach in Carthage. In all, Goldman has compiled over 450 wins in his career. He says, “I could not be happier to be a Longview Lobo. I can’t wait to get started.”
Both coaches were officially hired a couple weeks ago when the Board of Trustees made their decision. Tuesday night was their first opportunity to meet the public and talk a little about their vision for the Lobos.
