TYLER - Wednesday night must have been rivalry night for our local college volleyball teams.

At the NCAA D3 level, UT Tyler was at home taking on LeTourneau. The Patriots swept the Yellowjackets when they met last month in Longview. This time they were in Tyler, but not much else changed.

UT Tyler was in control of this match from the start and they never took their foot off the gas. When it was all done, the Patriots had swept the Yellowjackets (25-21, 25-11, 25-12).

Down at the junior college level, another pair of rivals met at TJC headed to Athens to take on TVCC. Their first meeting went the distance as Trinity Valley pulled out the win in the 5th game. On Wednesday, it was another close showdown.

The Apache Ladies started very strong, winning the first game in dominating fashion. But from there, the Lady Cardinals took over and won 3 straight close games to pick up the 3-1 win (11-25, 29-27, 25-22, 27-25).
