The Lufkin QB gets a special gift from Dez Bryant

The Lufkin quarterback got a special gift from a former Panthers (and Dallas Cowboys) star.

LUFKIN - Lufkin sophomore quarterback Jordan Moore had one wish: getting his hands on a pair of cleats worn by former Lufkin standout Dez Bryant. Thanks to Jordan’s close friend Mario aka Lil Yo, Moore’s wish was about to come true.

“Jay-Z had a concert in Dallas and he (Mario) was meeting up with Dez,” Moore explained. “So I told him I want a pair of Jordan cleats with his (Dez) signature on it. He was like, ‘when I come back, I’m going to have the cleats with me.’”

Fortunately Mario delivered on his promise, which was something that was too good to be true. “My heart dropped because I didn’t know he was really going to get them,” stated Moore.

While Dez’s actions were extremely generous, for those who know him best, that’s just the type of person he is. “It’s home. It’s where he’s from. He takes a lot of pride in where he’s from, and we take a lot of pride where Dez is from also,” explained Lufkin football head coach Todd Quick. “That doesn’t surprise us. He takes care of the kids. He does things on the side that people don’t know about, and we like to keep that in the family, cause it’s one big family here.”

Now that Jordan has his special cleats, don’t expect to see him wearing them anytime soon. “I would practice in them, but they’re way too good to practice in, so I will just keep them as a souvenir, or put them up in my closet…or something like that,” Moore explained.

Most importantly, this experience has inspired Jordan to be the best that he can be. “You never know what you’re going to get. Just keep putting in work and going hard every day. You never know what God has in plan for you.”
