LUFKIN, Texas - The TJC softball team put themselves in a bad spot from the start.

The Apache Ladies lost their opening game of the Region XIV Tournament, which meant they couldn't afford another mistake or their season would be over. And it turns out that TJC was up to the challenge.

They won 3 straight games in the consolation bracket to force a winner-take-all game with Blinn for the 2nd and final berth in the NJCAA National Tournament. And that deciding game was dominated by the Apache Ladies as they picked up a 6-1 win.

That win also put TJC in the Region XIV title game where they met San Jacinto. Unfortunately, at that point, the Apache Ladies just ran out of gas and fell to the Lady Coyotes 8-2.

Those two teams will represent Region XIV at the NJCAA National Tournament on May 17-20 in St. George, Utah.
