TVCC basketball teams prepare for NJCAA Tournament

ATHENS- Both Trinity Valley basketball programs will be dancing in the NJCAA tournament next week.

The Lady Cardinals will be making their eleventh consecutive appearance, and their 23rd trip overall. They have compiled an impressive 27-5 record, while going 16-4 in conference play. But despite the impressive record, they received the #20 seed.

"The #20 seed was interesting because I didn't think we'd be that low of a seed," stated women's head coach Gerald Ewing. "But it doesn't matter, we all have to play basketball...so hopefully we come down there ready to play and ready to go." The Lady Cards will face Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Monday March 20, in Lubbock.

The TVCC men's basketball team is also preparing for their NJCAA tournament appearance. The Cardinals will be making their fourth appearance in the last five years, and seventh overall. Most impressively, they went 18-1 in conference play this year.

"I love this team and I'm excited for these guys," stated men's head coach Guy Furr. "This has been such a good group on and off the court...it's just a high character group of guys."

The Cardinals open up their tournament against Baltimore City, Monday March 20 at 12pm in Hutchinson, KS.
