Entertainment News: Oscar nominations announced today

(CNN) - The 86th annual Oscar nominations announcement will be held later this morning. 

They will take place at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. There are three contenders for the Best Picture category -- "12 Years a Slave," "Gravity" and "American Hustle." The top two favorites for Best Actor seem to be Robert Redford for his almost completely silent performance in "All Is Lost" and Bruce Dern in Alexander Payne's "Nebraska."

(CNN) - The nominees for the 34th annual Golden Raspberry Awards have been announced, but this is one trophy that no one wants. Nicknamed "Tinseltown's Tackiest Trophy Derby," the Razzies highlight the year's box office bombs. Adam Sandler is nominated Worst Actor for the third year in a row for "Grown Ups 2." Razzie champ Sylvester Stallone nabbed his 31st nomination for "Bullet To The Head," "Escape Plan," and "Grudge Match." Winners or losers depending on how you look at it-- will be announced on March 1st -- the day before the academy awards.

(CNN) - Bryan Cranston made one production assistant's dream come true. The Golden Globe-winner had a contest on the set of the new thriller, "Cold Comes The Night". PA's were all invited to submit a script, and Cranston would star in his favorite. He chose "Writer's Block," A black and white short film about a screenwriter blurring the lines between fact and fiction.
