TYLER - On September 20, All Saints will shine brighter than ever before as Flame of Excellence award winners gather for the school’s 40th anniversary celebration, Founders’ Day.
For the last 25 years, Founders’ Day has been a celebration of those who have generously contributed their time and effort to making All Saints the success that it is today. Traditionally, a Flame of Excellence award winner is someone whose “vision of life” embodies the school’s guiding principles of both reason and faith, and whose actions “exemplify a passion for excellence.”
Since the school’s opening in 1976, All Saints has awarded more than 20 men and women with this prestigious award, many of whom will be in attendance on the special evening. This year, in honor of the school’s 40th anniversary, all of these award winners will receive a special tribute for their dedication to the school.
As these beloved members of the Tyler community make their way to the event, they will drive through the campus’ “memory lane” where students will line the campus drive with signs displaying the school’s rich history.
Upon arrival, attendees will enjoy live music, dinner, and a celebrity speaker. The keynote speaker for the event will be Ron Hall, renowned author and subject of upcoming major motion picture “Same Kind of Different as Me,” set to premiere in February of 2017. The New York Times best seller tells the story of how Ron befriended a homeless man, Denver, and through their relationship, was changed for the better. This story has inspired millions to open their hearts and minds to something greater. Most recently, Hall’s story has encouraged All Saints to press forward with a new service learning curriculum. Hall has graciously agreed to help All Saints kick off this commitment.
“I hope our Founders’ Day this year is an opportunity to celebrate the tradition of excellence we’ve had… and also to look to the future," All Saints Head of School Mike Cobb said. "With Ron Hall as our keynote speaker, he’ll be inspiring our future leaders."
Founders’ day is set for Tuesday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. at The Cascades in Tyler. Those interested in joining this special evening go here.
The proceeds go to the school’s financial aid program to aid deserving families and students. The 2016 Founders’ Day is co-chaired by Peggy Smith, Renna Embry, and Claire Cozad.
