90 Day Challenge Week 8: Justin's Update

TYLER (KYTX) -- Remember two-a-days from high school football? Now imagine doing them again at the age of  "just-about-40!" Well that's where my workouts have taken me only they're not quite as grueling as they were back then.

When you work evenings like Gillian and I do you typically don't get to bed until midnight, 1:00 a.m. or later. In those cases 7:00 a.m. comes pretty early. We're at XTC fitness by 8 a.m. to start our group workouts with Tony Cruz. But the great thing about this is I end up having a ton of time to take care of errands and even crank out a second workout. Generally by noon my body is ready for another one. It's not something everyone has to do to achieve results.  But I can tell you from experience that in addition to burning more calories this second workout actually gives me more energy! That is something I never expected ... but I like it!

As for those group workouts they're going very well. Tony always tells us to focus not just on the exercise we're doing but what everyone else us around us is doing too. That's because chances are we'll have to do their exercise next. This has turned working out into a mental improvement experience, not just physical improvement. When your blood is pumping and your brain is handling multiple tasks there's a benefit that extends well beyond losing a few pounds. That pays off in many areas of life.

The lean, high protein food we're eating from Let's Cook is very tasty and we're even getting a few nice surprises. There is some tasty trail mix on our menu now and I'm loving it.
