90 Day Challenge Weeks 9 & 10: Gillian's Update

I can't believe how fast time is flying. We have finished weeks 9 and 10 and only have two weeks left of our 90 Day Fitness Challenge at XTC Fitness & Sports with Tony Cruz. It's exciting to see the results! I have now lost 16 pounds, but it didn't come off easy. Losing weight is hard work! I still have a little way to go to meet my goal before the transformation is over. (Is it ever really over?) If you are thinking about starting a fitness routine, the best advice I can give is just get moving! Doing something is better than nothing and you will be surprised at how much better you feel, which will drive you to do even more.

I have included a couple pictures of our workouts with Tony Cruz during week 9. He always has us guessing what is coming next to keep us on our toes... sometimes literally. You'll see a picture of me on the Ab Wheel. (I do NOT have abs of steel, so this is tough!) Although I still can't go all the way to the floor, I have made a lot of progress on the wheel since we started this challenge.

Another exercise involves the Bosu Ball. It looks like a ball cut in half and put on a plate. You put the rounded side on the ground and stand on the flat rubber part. This stability exercise works on your balance and, hence, your core. Tony not only had us balance on it and do squats, but hold a kettle bell at the same time. My legs were wobbling like noodles. (Not pretty!)

In week 10 Tony pushed us out of the nest, so-to-speak, and told us to work out on our own, which is the goal of this challenge. The hope is it gives us the confidence and conditioning to venture out on our own, try new things and maintain a healthy fitness level. I have now taken up kickboxing, step aerobics and cycling. They are all great workouts! I can already tell that those classes will allow me to maintain this transformation.

Our diet with Let's Cook also continues and is going great. The owner, Kyna Clendenin, has given us a few new things to try this week. One included lima beans, which are one of my favorite veggies. I also enjoyed the cheese omelet and the salads with ginger dressing. Delicious! Remember, what you put in your mouth is equally important to losing weight and keeping it off.

Alright, we are truly headed to the finish line now with just a couple weeks to go. I'll give you another update next week.
