Dr. Radford was raised in Peoria, Illinois. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Carroll College in 1977, where he was named Who's Who Among Students in American Universities. While in medical school at the University of Illinois, he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He graduated from the University of Illinois School of Medicine with Honors and also received the Charles Spencer Williamson Award for Excellence in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Radford completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester Minnesota where he was the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in Internal Medicine Award. While at Mayo, he published articles relating to the use of laser therapy for various stomach disorders.

Dr. Radford has practiced gastroenterology in Tyler since 1988. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Texas Medical Association, Texas Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Smith County Medical Society. His clinical interests include endoscopic coagulation therapy as well as the entire range of clinical gastroenterology.

Married to wife Lynn, the Radfords have two children Kathryn and Lauren. They are active in their church and enjoy sailing.
