Joey Seeberby Cathryn Khalil - email
Former Tyler Mayor Joey Seeber said today that he will not oppose incumbent state representative Leo Berman, R-Tyler, in the 2010 Republican Primary.
In June 2008, Seeber announced his intention to seek the District 6 position held by Berman. At that time, Berman had announced he would be a candidate in the statewide governor's race. Since that time, Berman has dropped out of the gubernatorial race and announced his intention to defend his District 6 position. Seeber has said that he does not want to bring division to the Republican Primary as a candidate for that position.
In a statement today, Seeber said that although he and Berman have different approaches to public service, he agrees with Berman's immigration reform policies and will work for his reelection, as well as those of other local conservative candidates.
Seeber also mentioned that he will consider running for state office in the future.
