Winnsboro High School Band Director Investigated

By Wilton Johnson

An unidentified Winnsboro High School student told CBS19 Monday that Band Director Paul Bramlett is a "very nice, honest" teacher. She went onto say that she's "not buying" allegations he had a homosexual relationship with a student.

Franklin County authorities are now in the process of collecting evidence to either prove or disprove those allegations. A former student of the district says he was at Bramlett's home where the "inappropriate relationship" allegedly occurred.

Two students who say they know the boy tell CBS19 the boy just transferred to Winnsboro this year. They say he was "quiet" and "kept to himself." They say it's strange he was only here for a short while, made the allegations and then left abruptly.

Winnsboro Independent School District Superintendent Mark Bosold said district protocol places Bramlett on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of law enforcement's investigation. Bosold says he will then conduct his own investigation to determine if any misconduct violates district policies.

Bramlett was employed in a similar capacity by Wichita Falls, Keller and Navasota I.S.D.'s, as well as Nolan Catholic in Dallas, before coming to Winnsboro.

Bosold says in his three years at Winnsboro, Bramlett was never cited for professional misconduct.
