NAVASOTA, TX - A Texas man thinks he has the fastest street-legal car in the world, one he calls the "Hemi-jet." Joe Wilkins of Navasota is the owner. He took a cherry-red 1939 Ford and put some fire in its belly, literally. Wilkins got a jet engine installed in the trunk of the car, making it capable of going an estimated 300-miles-per-hour. He is thinking about a trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, where he might be able to set a land-speed record for the fastest street-legal car.
