Update: Name of pilot released in Wood county plane crash

MINEOLA (KYTX) - The Department of Public Safety is investigating a plane crash this morning in Wood County.
The small plane, piloted by 36 year old Michael Thern of Plano, crashed at 4:44 am about 3,000 feet from the runway of the Wood County airfield, west of Highway 37 between Mineola and Quitman. The pilot was airflighted to a Tyler hospital with non life-threatening injuries, where he remains.
Department of Public Safety officers are on-scene with investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board, continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
