TYLER, TX (KYTX) - A second person in Nacogdoches County has died from the H1N1 virus.
A 53-year-old oil rig worker from Oklahoma died at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital on Friday afternoon. The man he rooms with while working in Texas, a 55-year-old man from Mississippi, died from the virus Thursday.
"Anyone who presents to our emergency room with flu-like symptoms and or pneumonia, we will be very aggressive on how we treat them and have a high degree of suspicion that they may have H1N1," said Tim Hayward, CEO of Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. "Certainly to try to get a jump on things and not let the disease progress to the state it had."
Nacogdoches County held an H1N1 vaccination clinic Friday. Several hundred people considered to be in high-risk categories for the H1N1 virus received the vaccine.
