The National Math and Science Institute announced today that they'll be granting the University of Texas at Tyler $1.4 million to implement a new UTeach program. The announcement was made this afternoon in the UT Tyler Ratliff Engineering Building.
UT Tyler is the 15th campus nationwide to implement the program, which originated at UT Austin in 1997. The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation donated $427,000 to help fund the new program and Texas Education Agency provided $973,000.
UTeach is designed to recruit, prepare and inspire a new generation of highly qualified math and science teachers.
