"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" pushing ahead to finish

It's getting down to the wire for the crew and volunteers with 'Extreme Make-Over: Home Edition.'

The big finish is scheduled for tomorrow, and that means some fast hands and a lot of work today.

The team's pushing to get the last nail driven before the Carr family returns.

Saws are blaring and materials are moving as volunteers and workers push to get everything in order.

"We are in the final push and we are pushing.  As you can tell, we're doing landscaping and finishing up the yard," says Gary Bayless of Bayless Custom Homes.

"This is really the last crunch.  Tonight we'll design and decorate the whole house and do all the furniture," says Kim Lewis, the art director for "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

While it may seem chaotic, the art director for the show, who's a native of East Texas, says it's moving along as it should.

"Kind of a slow day because doing details.  Feels kind of sluggish, but a lot of stuff is happening today," says Lewis.

From the finishing touches on the woodwork, to laying the ground-work for the driveway, it's all about moving ahead in an effort to make this home more than brick and mortar.

"I try not to look at the clock," says Bayless.

With little time left on the clock before the Carr family of Mineola return from Hawaii.

"Everyone wants to play a part, everyone wants to come out, 'how can I help, how can I help.'  The volunteers have been amazing," says Lewis.

Amazing to see how hard a community will work, to bring one family home.

"It is amazing, I didn't believe it could be done at first, but they said 'don't worry, it'll happen.'  And God willing, it did happen," says Bayless.

Producers are hoping to reveal the house around noon tomorrow and are asking anyone who wants to watch to arrive at Walmart around 9:30 tomorrow morning and take the shuttle to the home site.

They're also asking any donations be made to Texas Bank and Trust for the Carr family.
