Whataburger fans, get out those smartphones.
The San Antonio-based burger chain launched its new app on Thursday, and it rewards frequent visitors for their patronage with free food after every five visits.
Rewards include the ever-popular Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit, any variation of a Taquito with cheese, a medium order of French Fries, a Cinnamon Roll, or any flavor of a small Shake (though the items’ availability varies — HBCBs and Taquitos are only offered from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m.).
Users earn the rewards by scanning a barcode in the app while paying for their order. Next year, Whataburger also plans to bring mobile ordering to the app in late 2017, saving you that long wait for the A.1. Thick and Hearty Burger you’ve been thinking about all day (or, at least, we have).
You can also upload a debit or credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, or a Whataburger gift card to pay directly through the app when you scan your barcode, much like the Starbucks app.
The app also includes the full menu with nutrition and allergen information, a restaurant locator, and guided tutorials, should you get confused and disoriented when faced with a fast food menu.
The app is free and available now though Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Click here to see links to download the app.
