Library using Legos to reach Tyler families

TYLER - Among the books at the Tyler Public Library, you'll find quite the program line-up. This month, Legos are taking over the library.

Though Thursday marked the deadline entry for this year's Lego design contest, the entries will remain on display throughout the entire month of April.

The theme of this year's design contest was "Tell Us a Story."

“This annual contest is just one of many programs that highlights the ever-evolving nature of the Tyler Public Library,” said Youth Services Librarian Linda Gray.

"There's so much that has to go into the dexterity, the placement of the bricks in the right place to get the right sizes but [the kids] just see it as something fun," she said.

The contest entries will be judged for creativity on April 11. First place winners in each age category will receive a Lego-themed prize.  Runners up will receive a certificate.

If you missed out on the contest, the library also hosts a Lego Block Party for kids on the first Saturday of every month from 2 to 4 p.m.
