Dallas convention center evacuated due to security incident

An unknown suspect called the administration office of the convention center stating that he had placed two backpacks of explosives inside the convention center, and that it was due to go off in 30 minutes.

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center was evacuated Friday afternoon due to a bomb threat.

An unknown suspect called the administration office of the convention center stating that he had placed two backpacks of explosives inside the convention center, and that it was due to go off in 30 minutes.

The employee of the convention center notified their security personnel and a decision was made to self-evacuate the convention center.

Dallas police was notified and responded to the scene. After a preliminary search of the facility, they located multiple backpacks in the convention center that gave them concern. The responding officers notified the Explosive Ordinance Squad (EOS).

Shortly after 8:00 p.m., EOS completed their searched of the convention center and determined that there were no explosive devices. A Hoax Bomb Threat offense will be generated as a result of this incident.
