CAMP COUNTY — According to a post on the Pittsburg Police Department Facebook page, a dog and a skunk have tested positive for rabies in Pittsburg/Camp County within the past 30 days.
Authorities say that the infected skunk was seen fighting with a dog. In both rabies cases, the dogs were not vaccinated for rabies as the state requires.
Pittsburg PD reminded people on their page that rabies is easily preventable and the most way to prevent it is to have your pets vaccinated.
Their post also informed people that they should not handle wild animals.
For less than $15, your local veterinarian can give your pet a rabies vaccine.
