Warrant issued for Austin man accused of more than one assault

The woman claims that the incident happened in South Austin.

After a woman claims that a man punched her in the face following a road rage incident in South Austin, police have issued a warrant.

Police told KVUE Tuesday they have issued a warrant for 25-year-old Morgan Richards in connection to the alleged incident, which reportedly happened Nov. 30. He faces a charge of assault with injury. According to online records with the Travis County Jail, Richards is not in custody as of Tuesday morning.

But KVUE News also discovered it wasn't the first time Richards had been arrested for attacking a woman. Court documents show he was charged with assault with injury on January 6, 2017. A warrant for his arrest read that the victim was walking to the Apple store when Richards hit her from behind with enough force and momentum to project her entire body off the ground. According to the most recent alleged victim, Amanda, she is relieved about Richards being charged. She plans to follow the case to the end.

"I can't let it go. I won't let it go. My family's invested, my friend's are invested, I have a lot of support, I have a lot of people backing me. I have a lot of people from all over the country that are messaging me so it's really nice," Amanda said.

The 23-year-old was driving with her girlfriend on South Lamar Boulevard between First Street and Oltorf Street early that morning when the alleged incident started.

Police said that the two drivers got into a confrontation in the 1300 block of West Oltorf Street when the alleged victim turned into a parking lot off of Thornton Road to avoid another possible confrontation. The suspect followed her into the parking lot and exited his vehicle. Police said the suspect -- identified as Richards -- said to her, "You got a (expletive) issue?" Police said Richards then punched her driver side mirror while she told him to "stop" several times. Richards then allegedly struck her with a closed fist in her right cheek, lip and nose area. Police said he "continued the verbal insults then struck her again with a closed fist."

"I'd never been that scared in my life. I'd never been that close to thinking this is where I'm going to die. When he did the U-turn to pass my car, when he did the U-turn to be window to window to me, that's when I thought, he's going to hurt me," Amanda said.

Both of the alleged attacks resulted in pain and bleeding in that area of her face. The victim provided KVUE with photos of her injuries:
