3 East Texans Represent Teams at Big 12 Media Days

Players and coaches got together this week in Frisco for Big 12 Media Days and 3 of the players call East Texas home.

FRISCO - There are a lot of East Texans playing college football right now. And 3 of the best stopped by Big 12 Media Days in Frisco on Monday to talk about the upcoming season.

Longview's Travin Howard (TCU), Lufkin's Keke Coutee (Texas Tech), and Whitehouse's Dylan Cantrell (Texas Tech) all represented their teams and spoke with the media about everything ranging from getting back on the practice field to the Big 12 bringing back a championship game.

These are just 3 of roughly 25 East Texans on Big 12 rosters this year. And they all say that playing high school football in this part of the state gets you ready for NCAA action.

Coutee says, “Guys from the East Texas area, I’d say they’re kind of made, built differently, we’re tough and ready and all that.”

Cantrell adds, "[East Texans] kind of get over-shadowed a lot by Dallas and Houston and the bigger cities but there’s been a lot of guys in the past few years that have come out of East Texas, so I think that’s just a testament to how competitive we are.”

Big 12 Media Days wraps up on Tuesday with the final 5 schools meeting with the media.

And if you'd like to see all 3 of these East Texans in action this year, circle November 18th on your calendar...that's when TCU will play at Texas Tech.
