JACKSONVILLE - This past Friday was the final day of the high school football regular season. And Jacksonville senior quarterback Dontrail Session picked a great time to have his best game of the year.
The Indians quarterback was 13-for-16 for 370 yards and 7 TD (all in the 1st half). That big performance helped Jacksonville to a win over Nacogdoches and clinched a playoff spot for the Indians.
That 7 TD performance was a school record as well, breaking the old mark of 5 set by former Jacksonville star Luke McCown. Session says McCown was in the stands on Friday night and that it was special getting to break this record in front of the former NFL quarterback.
Session says, "My quarterback coach came up to me after the game, he said, you know what you just did, you broke Luke McCown's record. I was like, oh snap, that's crazy, and they said Luke was in the stands, slapping hands, having a good time because I beat his record."
Session is the 11th and final American State Bank player of the week this year. All 11 weekly winners will gather in January to find out who this year's American State Bank player of the year will be.
