Tenaha and Timpson Kick Off The State Quarterfinals

It was an all-East Texas showdown as Tenaha and Timpson met in the 2A Division 2 State Quarterfinals.

CARTHAGE - Tenaha has been one of the top small school teams in the state for the last 7 years. In 2011, they won the state title, and since then, they've made it to at least the state quarterfinals every year.

Standing in the way of their first trip to the state semifinals since 2014 was their biggest district rival. Timpson has been very good in their own right, but Tenaha has been the one team they haven't been able to knock off. The Tigers have won 10 straight games against the Bears and Timpson hasn't beaten Tenaha since 1979.

The 2 rivals played their first ever playoff game against one another on Thurday night. And this was was just as one-sided as their first meeting.

Tenaha scored on almost every one of their drives in the game. Meanwhile, the Timpson offense had trouble getting going all night. And when the final gun sounded, Tenaha had picked up a 59-0 win.

The Tigers now move on to the state semifinals where they'll play either Burton or Falls City.
