TYLER - The UT Tyler men's basketball team won their first 3 games of the season. That, by itself, is impressive. But it's even better when you consider that all 3 of those games were on the road.
On Tuesday night, the Patriots finally had a chance to play their home opener as they took on Texas Lutheran.
UT Tyler actually got off to a bit of a slow start in this game and trailed by a few points at the half. But in the 2nd half, it was all Patriots. They pulled away down the stretch and moved to 4-0 on the season as they beat the Bulldogs 84-65.
Melvin Anthony led the Patriots with 23 points, and while Emeka Obukwelu's double-double streak ended, he still had a good night, scoring 19 points and grabbing 6 rebounds.
