Facebook outages cost the social network giant about $22K a minute

SAN FRANCISCO (USA TODAY) -- Facebook has restored service after a brief outage shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday.The outage disrupted a conversation between a CBS 19 web producer and a Tyler resident.

Users had reported that the giant social network was down in the U.S. as well as in other parts of the world.

The outage affected both the Web and mobile versions of Facebook.

Facebook could not be immediately reached for comment.

Facebook had major outages in May, June and August.

TechCrunch's Josh Constine estimates Facebook loses about $22,453 every minute it's down around the globe.
