House Republicans meet to discuss strategy

WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBS) - It's day 10 of a partial government shutdown.

House Republicans will meet to discuss strategy today before a delegation heads to the White House for a meeting with President Obama. Sources say the GOP members are considering a short-term increase in the national debt limit to avoid a default when the government runs out of money next week.

So far, no word on what, if any, attachments or demands they may link to the debt ceiling increase.

"I don't understand, and I don't think most Americans understand, why do you need to shutdown the government in order to have a negotiation."

House Republicans have been passing a series of bills to open parts of the government. Senate Democrats want one bill to re-open all of it.
