Texas Medical Board disciplines ETX doctors, one loses license

(KYTX) -- The Texas Medical Board announced this week that one East Texas doctor is losing his license and another will have to take 20 hours of continuing medical education (CME). This comes after a meeting to discuss discipline for nearly 30 doctors across the state earlier this month.

Dr. William Edward Brown of Tyler agreed to voluntarily have his medical license revoked in lieu of additional disciplinary proceedings.

Dr. Brown was under investigation. Earlier this year the board found Dr. Brown violated terms of a five-year agreement with the Texas Physician Health Program in May. The board said that included failure to complete required drug testing as well as a psychiatric evaluation. The board also said in June, Dr. Brown violated an agreement with the Compliance Division of the Board by testing positive for prohibited substances.

The board also says Dr. David Warren Buller of Gilmer will have to take 20 hours of CME for failing to follow pain guidelines or keep adequate records.
