Traffic stop leads to arrest of Palestine,TX. Man on drugs and weapons violations.

PALESTINE, TX. (KYTX) – A car stopped by police for failing to display a license plate on the vehicle resulted in the arrest of the passenger being charged with drug, and weapons violations.

Palestine Police report officers observed a firearm in the car,and police were granted permission to search the vehicle.

During the search, quantities of marijuana and suspected methamphetamine were located within the passenger compartment, as well as additional items of drug paraphernalia.

The passenger, 22-year-old Christopher Olivarez, of Palestine, was arrested and charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of firearm by felon, and possession of marijuana in a drug free zone.

Olivarez was transported to Anderson County Sheriff's Office, where he is jailed on bonds totaling $370,000.
