2 People dead after plane crashes into Minnesota home

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two people whose plane crashed into a Sauk Rapids, Minn. home Friday night have died.

According to the incident report, Sauk Rapids police responded to a call about a plane crash around 8:26 p.m. in the 700 block of Garden Place.

Two people were sightseeing in a small, single-engine private plane when the plane crashed into a residential home.

"Everybody kind of came out and saw it," a 15-year-old witness told WCCO Radio.

She added that before the crash she saw a large plane flying low with a smaller plane flying just behind it. The smaller plane then fell, flipped over and crashed into the house.

A fire resulted as part of the crash, which fire officials were able to put out.

According to police, there was one person in the home when the plane crashed into it.

He was able to get out through a window.

Police said the bodies of the victims were recovered from inside the home. Cause of death has not yet been determined.

Officials are continuing to investigate cause of death and the cause of the crash.
