2 Soldiers Welcomed Back to East Texas

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Annette Siebe eagerly watched as the plane that held her son slowly began to let it's passengers off.

Once she got sight of her son, Michael Switzer, this smile lasted for hours.   Switzer is from White Oak, and came home after serving 5 years in the U.S. Navy.
"Being away is hard. The only form of contact is email."
Coming back home for the first time in 5 years, Switzer was welcomed by a group called Welcome Home Soldiers. These men and women cheered Switzer as he walked through the East Texas Regional Airport.
"This group welcomes all military men that come home to East Texas.  After Switzer arrives, the group will head 40 miles north to Harleton to welcome another young man. Founder Anne DeLaet says the group has been doing this for 6 years, but the crowds welcoming these men are starting to get smaller." - Kevin Boyce
"People sometimes just don't notice or recognize their service. But we need to let them know we appreciate that they are keeping us safe."
For Switzer's mom, Annette Siebe, she says she is glad to see her son back in East Texas - safe and sound.
"Happiness - it's been very stressful having him gone."
Switzer will soon leave again for Washington D.C., where he will continue his work with the U.S. Navy.
