2 suspects caught fleeing scene of aggravated robbery in Longview

LONGVIEW - Two suspects are in jail awaiting bond after an off-duty officer caught them fleeing the scene of an aggravated robbery Sunday night.

According to the Longview Police Department, an off-duty officer was in the area of 1800 South High Street around 8:45 p.m. Sunday night and saw two men running from an E-Z Mart, one of whom was wearing a bandana over his face.

The officer detained both men, identified as 25-year-old Christopher Williams and 18-year-old Corey Lilly. The officer called dispatch and was told the E-Z Mart had just been robbed by two suspects brandishing a gun and demanding cash and cigarettes.

The suspects had fled with beer, cash and cigarettes, but the officer quickly located the items and the gun used in the robbery.

The suspects were arrested for aggravated robbery and are in the Gregg County Jail awaiting bond.
